The Hague, April 5, 2017 – The restoration of the Kılıç Ali Paşa Hamam in Istanbul has won a 2017 Europa Nostra Award. The public announcement was made today by Europa Nostra, Europe’s leading cultural heritage organization. The Europa Nostra Award is presented to outstanding projects from European countries that do not participate in the European Union’s "Creative Europe" programme. This awarded project from Turkey, along with the other winners of this year's European Union Prize for Cultural Heritage / Europa Nostra Awards, will be honored at a ceremony held in the historic city of Turku, Finland, on May 15. World-renowned tenor and President of Europa Nostra, Plácido Domingo, will co-host the European Heritage Awards Ceremony alongside Tibor Navracsics, the European Commissioner for Education, Culture, Youth and Sport.
